Six (6) Danish Teak Boomerang Dining Chairs for Slagelse
Price:
$4,200Alfred and Erik Christensen founded Slagelse Mobelvaerk in 1932, after apprenticing for their father in the workshop of Soro Stolefabrik. Slagelse worked with a few top Danish architects over the years, but Alfred also designed a number of pieces himself. Perhaps Slagelse’s most successful design, and the one most associated with the company today, is the “Boomerang” arm and side dining chairs, models 370A and 370, designed by Alfred in 1961.
The primary design motif is the organically-tapering side frame, where the stile and seat rail form the signature boomerang shape. This form is then duplicated and inverted to create both the leg framing a as well as the armrests for the armchair. Although simple in concept, the constantly-tapering rounded cross sections of these boomerang components required complex construction methods; with possible use of a copy lathe.
The teak frames are all in good condition and have acquired a warm patina over the years. There are the usual scratches, marks, and small dents that are common in vintage furniture and are a testament to their everyday use. All seats have been reupholstered with a matte black leather-like vinyl, and are in very good shape.
Many of the chairs are labeled with a combination of Slagelse stickers, Danish Furnituremaker Control buttons, and Made in Denmark stamps. They will only be sold as a set of 6.
Dimensions are: 20″ deep x 31″ high; 18.5″ wide for the side chairs, and 21″ wide for the armchair.

Also, craigslist e-mails often get lost or blocked for various reasons, so if you’ve sent a legitimate e-mail and have not received a response, please try again. No scammers please.
